Here I am, having another school break again.
Weather’s great, vacation’s long, yet nowhere to go. My do-list is long and each item is patience-challenging+time-consuming.
Well, to begin with, today I did sketch 8 evening-gown figures.
And the famous plant finally presents its flowers–since yeaterday. No more mystery, it’s a Baizhang.(白掌). At least I think that’s how it should be called, since the same thing that comes in red is called Hongzhang”红掌”. Gordo is so naive–He thinks that it eventually turns red.
Hey, its not apple.

Dress 4 is completed. However, depending on who wears it( I’ve put it on different dummies, maniquins and also myself) it shows problems at different parts.
On me, of course the bust area is too roomy, and the hip area is too narrow so the dress does not fall too well, creating some untidiness especially at the back. On dummie the back and hip fits perfect, but there is extra uneveness around the bust. At this point, I will have to see how it looks like when THE model wears it, and make adjustment according to her body.

full front

45 degree

Right side

There are 3 types of fabric–the blue one with pattern, the solid green, and the floral silk. Floral silk is probably my favorite fabric in the whole mini, pity i cannot use it more.

My whatsitsname plant is still carrying 2 flower buds. Why does it take some long for them to bloom? I am dying to see how those flowers look like. In comparison the suspected orchids outside already have generations.I am growing out of patience…
Did 6 men figures+coloring tonight, but feeling ok. If I did it on computer I probably would die of exhaustion by now.
Mary’s last dress is gonna cost her around 20 meters of fabric. Do the maths–if each meter is 20rmb, she’s gonna spend 400 just for fabric. Today she was doing the toile and I happened to have run out of muslin. I picked up whatever she ’s left of cutting that dress, and still was way too much for my dress. So funny.

Talking about songs–Today the theme song is “La cucaracha, la cucaracha, ya no puede caminar…”
Why? Because upon completion of the toile, Dress No.5 really looks like I have been inspired by cockroaches.
I remembered when I first showed my sketch to Gordo, he made a question–”Is that a cockroach dress?”
To his stupid question I just laughed away and said:”You don’t know Sh**.”
Yet, today right after I walked out with the finished toile, Winnie said:”Wow, U look like you got a pair of bug’s wings at ur back…”
Then I turned to the front and looked in the mirror, which gave me a good laugh–I even got 2 rings at each side of the waist and they look just like the ring around a cockroach’s head.
If I make this dress into brown, it will definitely be a cockroach costume!
After over half a day’s work I made myself a bug. This is sooooooooooooo funny.
But the bad thing is, I’ve got to alter somewhere to ditch the cockroach similarity. Plus, I have tried 4 times with the sleeves and they still don’t look like how I pictured.
So basically, today it’s been quite frustrating.
And it rained and rained and rained.
And they said it never gonna stop till the end of the week…

Today I pretty much spent the whole day fighting with the management center and the team who we contracted to clean the outside of our windows.
I’ve got to say now,an partment with hugh windows is nothing but trouble. Do not let the visual charm fool you. The important thing is you have windows that FUNCTION.
The guys were going to get water from our apt and direct the pipe all the way up to clean the windows, but changed their mind because they found a tap right up there. In this condo,it is impossible to do anything of your own without being bothered by management center. Being an experienced fighter, I made a call to “acknowledge”them. Yet during the whole process guards still came to look for trouble for a few times.
When they were about to finish, this guard came and accused them of using public water. Soon it became a big deal because I refused to pay for their mistake. To make a long story short–the guards wouldn’t let the workers go before the issue is solved, and I do not want to get involved. For one thing, the guards came to use the tap water all the time; For another, if I were to pay for the little water those workers had used, what about the drinking water that the guards constantly stole from me?? These bunch of troublemaking leeches.
After I shrugged off this problem, the guards took the workers to management center and tried to negotiate the problem. Their boss was called. I went out to do our own chores, which also sucked. We’ve got 4 speeding fines at the same bloody place, and to make it worse, it’s from another city.
When I came back I went to clean after those workers. They did not do a good job. Windows were not clean as I expected. Later the management center sent their bitches up–Apparently the boss had taken the workers away(how? I do not know.) and now the problem had fallen upon us. This small little guy(who by the way belongs to the same type as Johnny Depp, I mean, sharp chin and thin lips, type of faces I am absolutely not fond of) held a little booklet in his hand and basically tried to blackmail me–:”Accoding to our residential booklet you can be fined 1000rmb for a breech of rule,”,”Let’s do it this way, now you just pay rmb100, and we consider it settled.”"Such thing has happened, the guys ran away, as a resident who hired them you should be responsible…” blah blah blah.
I just felt like slapping him. Rmb 100 worth of water can drown his whole family.
Then I asked why they do not go and make a 1000rmb fine to those who park on the walkways(which the booklet says is strictly forbidden) and why nobody cares when people hang their underwears in the front balcony when the booklet says no? If everybody is to respect the rules I am happy to just pay 100, or1000,whatever. But making me a special target is not fair. (This is one of the moments I wish I had a millitary background or filthy, filthy rich so they tremble when I talk. daydream.)
Anyways, these bitches insisted and insisted till I am so tired of their face and their voice. I gave them 100 and slammed the door on their face. These useless SOBS are there only to create troubles and when u need them to solve real problems, they are either somewhere else, or just totally incapable. If they were as efficient and responsive in sloving problems as creating them, I’d also respect them, but after 3 years of living here I know it is just not the case.
This is just one fed-up Sunday. I just feel so stabbed.

4 movies we watched in 2 nights:
1. Scoop–Good actors and actress. Line well written but story is cheezy.
2.Libertine– Heavy accent+no subtitle+ pirate, lots of words, don’t know what the hell.
3. The unbearable lightness of being–Great great movie.Great story, intricating way of telling, facsinating pictures, touching lines and beautiful music– Everything makes you wanna cry. BTW, Daniel day luis IS a good-looking man.
(I remember the book being very good too, just a little too sad ,too heavy.)
4. The double life of Veronique–Well… from my point of view there is not much of a story. Or at least the story isn’t appealing to me.However, the photography and the music is just superb. I think this movie is more of an art piece than a story.
Gordo recomended me to 3 great movies from the same director and I was mighty impressed. The White, the Red, and the Blue. The pictures and music are so captivating that even after a long time when I basically forgot the stories, I still could vividly remember the scenes.
Tonite dinner was Bordeux(how to spell?)+coke+ what Gordo calls “brazilian Pastella”and what I call “stolen recipe from China, totally deep fried Jiaozi.”

This is the Orchid I am talking about. They bloom and wither in 2 days. Each morning when I pass by I could see shoots of new buds, by the end of the next day their flowers are brown. A short glamour, nevertheless beautiful. (P.S, I am not even sure this is a type of orchid. They look like orchid.)
All kinds of flowers are blooming in the condo. This is a pic Gordo took in our morning walk.
There are 7 types of plants in just a small corner like this.
Even the whatsitsname in our apt is showing me miracle. Since last week I started to see flower buds. It is not as fast as the “orchid”–I’ve been waiting. I think I’m up for some nice surprise. I have neva, neva managed to keep a plant that eventually yields any flowers before.
It might bring some good Fengshui to the apt, I believe.
The village has issued me a birth control certificate. I have no idea what for. They came the other day, asked for a pic, and came again and handed me this little green book. I don’t think they have anything to worry though. What’s funny is that, under the column of “Husband name” is written–”Brazilian man.”
I doubt how formal this is. I have given the full name, but I guess whoever is in charge of filling the chart does not like the trouble.

I can never finish any of Johnny Depp movies, not even half-way. I do not like his pirate look, or Baroke look, or his look, period. …And Gordo thinks he is a good looking guy.mm…I fell asleep in the middle of the movie tonight.
After a whole week’s hardwork I make Friday a slower and relaxing day. In morning class Herina helped me with the touch-up of my Nanny collection illustrations.Afternoon we took off for shopping. Over half of a FD senior class going out together is quite a scene.
Mark went on the search of the sextoy wholesale market that Tess accidentally discovered the other day, just around her neighborhood. The shopping is not intended for his own use though. Before we left I made a joke on him:”Hey, try before you make any purchase!”
It’s amazing this city has a wholesale market of everything: Clothes, shoes, the biggest fabric market, and many, many others. How convenient.
As to our shopping,I was quick and efficient–Bought 3 dresses in the first store we went in. After that I quit the shopping troop and hopped on Clifford bus.
One of the things I love about Summer is that the day is much longer. This makes one feel that there is more time, and could do things at a slower pace. By 6pm it was still quite bright, and we started to cook dinner.
Gordo’s vegetable saltée is getting better every time.
