Dalilah is now the family star.

looking attentive

Profile

doesn’t she look like a rat?

Growing teeth and bites everything, particularly our feet

Her bear is bigger than her, but one day she’ll outgrow it. In fact, she’s gained 80g over the past week.

Went to see Mary’s new apt Friday and stayed there overnight.
Still prefer houses at this side of the river. There may be a biz hub, but here it is more tranquil and somehow it gives me peace of mind
Afternoon Gordo came back from his trip. We met at the Vet’s. The plan is to bring Dalilah home. Apparently she has more or less recovered from parvovirus. Now the situation can be conbtrolled by just giving her medicine to follow-up.
Honestly ever since last saturday when we bought her, she has been bleeding us dry . The hospital bill is large.
I hope she is worth it.
The truth is, she is very cute. And she deletes what I write. I may have to write when she is sleeping….

On one of Gordo’s many explorative drivings to the city he discovered a fish market around Shangxia jiu Rd, and has a burning desire to introduce me to it ever since. It is not just a fish market–it offers from turtle to indoor plants to cats and dogs.
That’s what makes the street interesting, and if you are tired of seeing skycrapers, luxury shopping plazas and everything that has a signature of a modern comsopolitan, here is a street for a change of taste. You get to see some of the oldest part of Guangzhou and feel the culture as well. Which I am not very enthusiastic about, by the way.
Anyway, the plan was to get more indoor plants for the 3 beautiful vases that we bought earlier. And Gordo’s secret plan 2 is convince me to buy a couple more fish. ( I am the one that scrubs the fishtank, so I think there’s enough fish for the time being…)
Anyways, after a few stores that sell cats, plants and fish, when we were about to turn away, I noticed there was a small head behind a barking puppy in the store just in front of us. I walked in and saw this funny brown little chihuahua. It was so tiny it could fit in a palm. We immediately love it.
Now lets talk about our bad history of keeping a dog. In 5 years we now have had 4 dogs. If you tell any of our close friends that we have bought a dog, that would be their only reaction–:”Again?”followed by a sigh.
We are bad dog keepers. The 1st one became quite crazy and after almost 4 years we found him great step parents(Thanks God). The second one was too spoiled, to the point it became uncontrollable. We were glad someone finally wanted to have him. In between there is one, she was sick and sent to hospital for 2 days, but did not make it.
Now we have a new one. We are both dog lovers. And when there is such a cute dog in front of us, we instantly became so weak.
“What do u think?” “I think it is cute.”
“Should we buy this?”"But we are not supposed to have any dog anymore…”
“But its way too cute.”
“well…”
So we ended up breaking our promise. We swore we’d never have any dog the moment Tonho was out of the house. It was heart-breaking.
After years, sometimes I would still think of Hugo–his naughty face and his funny deeds, and wonder how he is doing. Would he be still alive?
So we bought Dalilah impulsively.
She is a cute thing, the size of my shoe. She is yappy, runs like a deer, and sleeps like an angel.
And of course today I basically spent the whole day looking after her. Watched where she peed, when she wanna poo, fed her etc etc.
She jumps around and plays hard if you put her on the floor, but once she is on your lap she immediately went into a coma–sleeps like she was dead.
In many ways it is like a baby.(I mean human baby…)
At this moment, (do not curse me!) I am still not sure we did the right thing. I am afraid of the commitment. The emotional bond, the care I am gonna have to put onto her…It is like a long-term burden. So it is with a child. Like what I confessed to mom the other day…
But I guess that’s another story.

Still feeling lazy.
Here’s a summary of the past week:
Lots of schoolwork.
Rushed to Shekou for an 1 1/2 day trip to visit my parents and see Nancy and Phoebe.
My brother’s girlfriend happened to be staying with us for the holiday. She is very shy and quiet, but has nice smiles.
After 2 years living in Rio, Nancy came back for good. Knowing us she brought with her 2 bottles of Cachaça, a pack of “extra forte”coffee and a purple lacra dress for me.Unfortunately the cachaça didn’t make it–it was confiscated in South Africa.
Phoebe is going thru some marital problems–Hope she’ll sort it out and be happy again soon.
Mom really has a green thumb–With that little time she has, she could still make a floral balcony. Here is a pic I found beautiful:

A pic of MY flower too:
P.S. The1st time I have a plant that blooms under my care…I Looks like it has attitude
