Got myself on the scale last night. I’ve gained 2 kilos lately. back to 52.Never even been close to 52 since college. Don’t know where the 2 kilos is–stomach and tummy look the same, the 2 places I normally most worried about. Can’t examine the back too well. Hope most of the 2 kilos is water, since i’ve been drinking water like a camel lately. However if it is on the bust it’s also welcome
My afternoon nap last almost 4 hours. dream after dream. So drowsy and tired, probably the weather. School activities have been drastically reduced it’s like a half-vacation. In fact Mark is having vacation with his love somewhere on a diserted island near Singapore. Not hard to imagine what they’re doing. I’m sure when he’s back, he will not be yelling”I’m drier than sahara” for a while.
The 2 books I have of Zhang Ai Ling have long gone. I picked up some other books from the shelf and started reading them. I read those years ago. Its a shame I read so little all these years. Most of the books on the shelf belong to Gordo.
Mary called yesterday, saying that there is this big company. High street fashion, comfortable environment, great opportunity for growth and all, that is hiring designers. She and Yoyo and Jack have been picked that day. Asked if I’m interested to give it a try. “This is very organized and formal company’she said. But no matter what she says, I seem to have settled with Kim. But I do promise to go and have the factory tour with her one day, if I am not sick again.

Yesterday I was telling Herina that it is a pity that she does not read Chinese, cause she misses out great stories by this Chinese writer. I’ve been reading her again lately, since I had to spend lots of time in the hospital waiting room. Translated version is never the same. I admire people who read and actually enjoy the Chinese translations of English stories. For me it takes deep understanding and acute sense of imagination, which I totally lack. I always try to read the original version. That’s a perfect excuse for not reading enough. For Spanish and Portuguese, i also stick to my principle–since I could just understand so much as reading cartoons, that’s what I just do! I know all about Monica and Cebolinha
Ok…where am I.
All i want to say is, I enjoy reading again Zhang Ai Ling’s books. I got one from Mira last Sunday, and after I finished it, surprisingly I found another in my study room. I have to buy more before I finish this one.
Today I finally delivered 5 of the evening dress designs to the pattern maker. Me and May.
I have no idea how they are going to look. Will they sell? or will they rot on the hanger?
Kim has big ambition. No, not just ambition. He is totally doing it. He is changing his store in the mall into an office. He is going to gradually discard the current clothes and furnish the store with our designs. He wants to have OUR own designs. He wants to sell them everywhere. The only thing I hope, is not to disappoint him. He recently hired a girl who just graduated from South China Agriculture University to be our assistant. She will follow up our designs. It almost looks too good to be true, while me and May are still tied up in our last-stage school skedules. Well, not so much me, but I’ve got some important personal deeds to finish up too. I really hope things work out because Kim looks like a great boss so far.
Talking about meeting Kim today. It was really not the plan. I was going to get the fabric and pass it to pattern-maker and go home, but he called–:”r u in Zhong Da?”"ya.”"You can use my car to go to sample maker because I am here too. Gime a call when ur done.”"oh..”
oh no.
Tube top, mini skirt, flip-flop, no make-up, didn’t come my hair in 2 days. That’s how I look. Compared to May–Calf-length CK denim skirt, cap-sleeve cotton white blouse, perfect make-up, clean hair, high heels. I’m dead.
So I had to borrow a comb from one of the fabric stores and put on some lip-stick. Was still ashamed to go to the mall. I swear next time I will not walk out of home like this.

After the update this site went crazy. Now I cannot type in Chinese. Too bad.
And too bad, I am in such a Chinese blogging mood.
The goal of tonight is to go to bed at 9. Read 1 hour and force Gordo to come to bed too, because if he is not in the bed yet, somehow I couldn’t fall asleep. Not exactly out of romantic reason, I hate when I’m asleep and then there is someone trying to get into bed, or turning on and off the lights, or simply messing around. Back in those days when I had to share a room with my brother I used to force him to sleep early too. I am a super boring “early-sleeper”,(although when someone first meets me they’d always imagine I am the night-clubbing type…weird.) and 2 am is kind of normal for my brother. I am glad I moved out very young.
After all these bs, forgot what I was going to write about…
Had lunch with Herina and classmates in an indonesian restaurant. That may be the only Indo food restaurant in town? Herina was certainly the one who made the order since she is indonesian. food not very impressive, probably because I am sick and I could not get anywhere near spice&pepper.
After all, I still prefer turkish food, Middle-east food. Gordo always makes fun of me.He said I have a thing for the Middle-east, especially the men. Not true.
I really have this urge of ripping the showls off the women when I see them in a hot street. hmm…maybe I have not enuff respect for their religion, but i keep thinking it’s time they changed their fashion a bit. How hot and stuffy that is. Women in summer should all have minimun coverage, like I do.
But in their defense, when a middle-eastern guy is handsome, he Is handsome. Thats what I always tell Gordo. ha-ha.

Maybe it’s the heat, maybe I had more activity than I am supposed to have, I’ve fallen ill since the last 2 days. Since I am very careful about it, taking pills,sleeping early, drinking herbal tea and all…it has not been very bad.
Saturday morning I went to Kim’s with May. Both showed around 20 designs of evening dresses to him. He asked each of us to pick 5 dresses to make sample first. He does not give any opinion what to make. I’ve got to say, Kim has given us a great deal of freedom in our work. So after having lunch with him, we went to fabirc market. Up to today we didn’t go to make samples yet, that afternoon after we purchased most of the fabric and accessories, we were quite beat, plus we had Marge’s house-warming party to attend in the evening.
To make a long story short, after being in Marge’s house, there is only one word to describe my apartment–shabby.
woo, her kitchen is the size of our living room. (and our livingroom is really not small…). After the shower cabinet, the bathtub, toilet and shelves, you can still waltz in the bathroom, let alone the huge front yard and the huge lake right in front of the yard. Everybody said for rmb5 million, although big in amount, compared to the house itself, still is well-worth it.
Marge’s got great taste in interior design too. The house is simple, clean but chic.Same style as what she usually does in Fashion. For a woman in her early 30’s, its quite an achievement!
The seniors also came to the party. They’d graduated for 1 year by now. Most of them drove and brough their kids.(all girls…). 2 of them slave for a Dutch company; Cara has her own workshop. Rest of them remains “rich taitai”in home, except prettier and looking younger.
That was my full Saturday. HAd work, had fun. But since then I got sick.
Sunday as planned I went to Mira’s. Did a facial treatment together in the neighborhood. From there I got super sleepy and we changed the idea of going to Ikea to taking a nap after lunch.
The day had been very quiet. Unbelievably hot outside. Mira had her apartment clean quite well. I took a book from her “ikea book shelf” and since then couldn’t put it down.
This week’s gonna be really really tough. Hope I make it well.

Yesterday I was all right. Today the headache came back again, not as strong as Monday and Tuesday, but it made me very tired. Dozed off on the clifford bus.
Made an appearance in Herina’s class in the morning and soon took off to the stitcher. She does not seem to need this kind of business. It almost looks like she is doing us all a favor. But, I don’t think she charges lightly. She praised me today, saying that I am the best girl among “them”(my other classmates who also send her garments to sew), becasue I always wrap up my paper pattern and cut fabric very carefully, have clear information and instruction while they just dump her tattered paper and sometimes uncut fabric, expecting her to sort it all out….In a word, basically I have finished my whole mini-collection today!
Oh, the short jeans I bought on MNG sales yesterday had immediate effect. Today I was buying some breakfast at 7-eleven, and this bro came up and asked for my phone number, obviously checking out my pants and leggs. I did not give the number because I hate people calling me+he’s not handsome+oh, I am married.
Tomorrow Marge is having a house-warming party in her “castle”. Have to meet Kim. And Sunday I am hanging out with Mira–gonna have a big meal somewhere definitely. Sweet weekend plan. I haven’t had a weekend without worrying too much work for a while.

A light day

The passed 2 says I have done quite a damage to the 7th dress. Mark is good at draping. All of the flows and ruffles were done by him yesterday. All I did to the skirt was to stitch the draped fabric together in the end. He showed me how to do it with one layer first, but I manged to sweet-talked him into doing the whole skirt for me. Just creamed–:”wow, so nice! so beautiful. Now show me again.” after another layer, screamed again–:”wow, this is perfect, show me one more time…”
Although he kept saying:”no want, no want”. In the end he draped it all 8 layers for me, front and back. Skirt looks very girly.:)
After this he became my “Pilipino maid”. I call him “Consuela”. He called me “yes mum.”
So this morning Consuela offered to show me how to make hair accessory with fabric. The flower he made was quite pretty.I tried to use the same way, but this time didn;t work.He said:”No way, I am not gonna let you talk me into doing all for you again….”
Had a big lunch with the girls in the restaurant downstairs. On the way down Mark was poniting at my bust and said:”A minus, A minus.” I said, shut up.
One thing about small tits is that you don;t have to wear bra. Herina keeps complaining she has to carry her “knockers”all the time and that is too heavy for her….
My original plan for the afternoon was to deliver the evening dress designs to Kim in the mall. Skeduled changed. So I left with Mary. We went to Mango which is having a 50% discount sale starting from today.
Bought a pair of short jeans with frayed hem. Whitish and vintage look. It goes with almost any top. Rest of the stuff was not attractive at all. Most of the dresses there are not bad, but they are very simple design that counts everything on the fabric. Nice prints but not worth he price, even after discount. I miss H&M.
MNG in GZ is becoming so shitty, in my opinion. The rest of the crowd does not seem to agree with me, cause their business was good! Sigh.
Wacthed a French movie tonight and Gordo cooked fried chicken breast for dinner. Sealed my mouth from this hour because I am starting to grow “love hill” lately.
The rest of the evening will be work.

Rainy Thursday

Woke up really early this morning, found out I’ve got a message very late last night. It was Mark who asked me to bring some of the dresses to take pictures on the dummy.
Turned out Mark’s favorite is dress6, the one with all those beadings. This is so Mark, he is an evening gown-cocktail dress-shinny stone, and sexy-lace kind of gal…
While I was taking pictures, Mark was like:”maaaaaaaaaaaach better! You shud put THESE pics on ur porfolio. They(the dresses) look so cheap on YOU.”
I said:”Thank you veli much for the compliment.”
Then he looked around and with his fuzzy eyes and his intuitive ideas all of a sudden I got tons of accessories to do. We need flowers–we need hair pins–we need cut-out fabrics–we need tie-up shoes etc. etc.
Then I wasted the other half a morning altering the last dress toile because he suggested a slopy waistline.
But all in all, it was a fun time at school. Compared to what I had to do in the afternoon, it was way way more interesting. It was like heaven.
Afternoon I took some sample dresses that Kim gave me and tried to find the exact same fabric. The kind of job I hate to the guts. So I looked and asked around. In the end I found like 40% of the fabric, and got some similiar samples. I could go on searching, and I could give up. And guess what I chose.
I gave Kim a true excuse–I really don’t have time to do this right now. I could use my spare time in the night to design, but not fabric searching.
(I really hope I will never have to do this again.)
To search for fabric as an inspiration for designs is one thing, to hold the clothes samples and find the same fabric is totally another.
Today it has not been a very encouraged day, Kim-wise. Looked at some of the hottest-sale designs in the office–They look so old. so auntie. so not exciting.

The rain keeps on and on. Tomorrow go to Hk with Gordo. Asked for leave from Herina and she said “No.” I am so tired of her negative attitude lately. I am going anyway.
