Mom came last Thursday afternoon and left today. She came with 2 missions–to stay with me(unbore me) and cook for me. She did a great job–Our kitchen has been turned into a Chinese kitchen and I am one size bigger now and Gordo said that I have “no waist.” and today I found myself watching the last episodes of a Chinese soap opera. (Sounds impossible, no?) I have developed the habit of following the story in the past week.
I am so flexible–Chinese way or western way, both all right to me. I am kind of like a pig…

Porridge

Posted in Main Page at 8:46 pm by Tammy

The people that make take-out porridge in Clifford must love me a lot. I call for take-out dinner like 3 times a week–and their food is not cheap at all.
The porridge is really good though–If you ask for half a kilo of shrimp in it, you get half a kilo.
I have very little control over food, result=putting on weight.
Today spent the whole day shooting emails and arranging orders. And in the middle of the day I suddenly realized, oh, I’m back–doing what I do the best (supposedly)–communicating with buyers and translating orders to my colleagues.
So…that makes my 2 years of Fashion training what?… a waste? What became of the RMB 130,000 I’ve spent.ooo……
But it’s fine. I have a beautiful river view from my window. Kind of have the best corner of the office. ..
Yen and Miss Zhou are with the sweater line. They keep getting beautiful sweater samples. I’m drooling over this 2-pcs hand-painted cashmere dress. If it was not missing a waistband I’d have bought it already… And Yen got this little black knit dress that is so cute. She said she’ll have to lose some weight to weat it. I said, give it to me right now,I’m gonna walk out this door and kill some men.

Another day

Posted in Main Page at 10:00 pm by Tammy

Tired…
Went to see a school with Kim in the afternoon. He wants to build an international school there, ever since he attened our graudation show…
Not a bad place at all. I can see the potential…but, I don’t see Kim owning it and making money. “what do you think?” He asked. “Big project…Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig.”
Price of the rent is outrageous.
After that I went off to hospital. Kim’s so nice–he lets me do my persoanl chores all the time:)
I don’t understand–I didn’t exactly do much, but at the end of the day I feel so exhausted.
By the way I haven’t been designing anything lately. Feel like the creative cells are leaving me already…But i guess it’s ok. Watching the movie tonight and I was thinking–it’s kind of nice to be a sex therapist…

Home 1.5 hour earlier

Posted in Main Page at 6:47 pm by Tammy

Ha-ha. happy.
Today I got to come home 1.5 hour earlier. It’s nothing to compare with my golden school time when I had a nice lunch and maybe coffee afterwards somewhere with my classmates, and casually went home for a lazy afternoon, but it IS something considering this was the first time when I stepped out of the metro station, and the sky was still bright, since I started to work…
Went to hospital in the afternoon–great excuse to skipped away from Kim’s meeting. He was meeting some other Koreans and Chinese on a big project. Since I was not there, Mary naturally became the victim. At 6:30 she was still text-messaging me, telling me that they not even started visiting the place, let alone dinner. Looks like it’s gonna be a long evening. She kept asking me to join them–reason–one girl with 4 not good-looking men. I said:”please, let me be.” Later the answer was short and straight–:”Bi-a-tch.”
But, bi-a-tch will have a nice evening. Tonight I plan to finish the rest of the wine…
Tomorrow I’m sure I’ll have a lengthy report from Mary about their activities. She just cannot shut up–But most of the time, she makes me laugh.

Messy day

Posted in Main Page at 11:17 pm by Tammy

Sample room was moved to the mall, machines connected, tables set, pictures hung, everything is ready for a work&show.
So today the stitchers and the pattern-maker started working there. Back in the office there was a cook that prepared lunch and dinner. Meal becomes an issue in the mall. I suggested 10rmb for each to pay their lunch. Soon there was complaint–”back in the office we had dinner included.”
Well. after discussion, we decided to pay 14 each for 2 meals a day, plus 100 per month for extra transportation.
And this stitcher, still full of complaints, about how far it is to go to work now, about how early she has to get up in the morning now, about how little the food will be now and how much better it is in the office than in the mall….
She just does not think it’s enough.
Me:”I think it’s pretty fair. 7 rmb each meal is quite reasonable.”
Stitcher:”But the meals here are so expensive.”
Me:”Yeah but there ARE 7 rmb ricebox.”
Stitcher:”I had lunch today in the mall, it cost me 12rmb.”
Me:”Yeah but u don’t hv to buy that.” Then I threw her a piece of paper with ricebox pricing 6, 7 , 8 ,9 rmb.”You can have everything here, except when it’s more than 7, u have to pay the extra yourself.”
Stitcher looked and said:”Even my 12rmb lunch had very little meat. “Doubting how much she can get out of a 7rmb rice box.
Stitcher:”We need to eat 2 bowls of rice each meal, because we need to work. We need the strength! Unlike some other people who only do admin work.”(meaning me)
Me:”You won’t be starved, how much u think u can eat? a rice box has more than 2 bowls of rice in it! Besides, I don’t even get paid for MY lunch and transportation!”
Stitcher:”Yeah but u earn more. you are designer.”

Me:”Says who? I just graduate. How much u think the boss will pay me?!”
Stitcher:”Yeah but u have a husband to support you!”
Me:”Yeah, well u can find urself a husband that pays for you too!”
Stitcher:”The reason i agreed to work in the office is because it’s close to my home, now it’s too far!Nobody wants to travel so far to work!”
Me:”I live in Panyu, one hour by bus, who’s further?”
Stitcher:”yeah but u have a car!”
Me:”Yeah but I still take bus and metro!”
“Look, there is 100rmb for transportation. We want to keep you, but if u want to work somewhere near your home, that’s ur choice. The decision is made.”
It was until then, that she shut up.

The Bet

Posted in Main Page at 10:54 pm by Tammy

Mary lost her bet with me and bought me dinner with her husband in Saltan Turkish restaurant tonight. We had so much to eat…
Mall biz still sucks. Tomorrow pattern maker and stitchers will be working in the new rented store. Lets see what happens…
My life now: get up—> go to work—>go home—>sleep
(repeat repeatedly the above cycle.)

Crabs

Crabs are disgusting animals to eat, but they taste so good!

…except I couldn’t and wouldn’t look them up close when I eat.
