Oye, como va?

I remember when I was asked last time, after seeing Eagle’s last world tour concert, about how Don Henry looks like in real. Me:”He looks like one of the guys you can see in a bar.” One thing I love about these people–great talent, yet they can look as common as any passer-by. Sometimes one just don’t need the glamour to be glamorous.
What am I talking about…I am just still picturing the very Santana image. The very Santana hat, the moustach and his linen-look-like t shirt and loose pair of pantalones. :) He looks the same all these years! –Of course to me, since when I first listened to him, it was not too far ago.8 years? 2nd year in college.
Although Gordo had bought the tickets 2 months ahead, and it was supposed to be first-class seats,it was not as close as we wish to be. We were on the elevated right side of the arena, about 4th row. Concert was at 8pm, and we assumed most people on the airport express would get off at the airport station–guess what, turned out almost the whole train were going to see Santana. :P
It was a great night! First of all, I LOVE Santana and the band. And they did played EVERY one of my favorites like Maria Maria, (sexy…sexy!tOO sexy!!!), Black Magic Woman (classic!), No one to depend on, corazon espinado, Oye como va etc etc. I’d never thought I’d watched him played black magic woman for real! Thanks God we are so close to Hk :)
Mid-night train was a special arrangement for the concert goers and of course it was packed! As slim as me I hardly found a place to stand straight. But everything was wroth it– it was a blast!

Later this place was full.

People leaving around midnight

The most of us from here were sardined into one train.

Midnight dinner. Because of the time spent in H&M, we did not have any dinner prior to concert. This was the only thing opened near hotel where we could find something to eat. I love typical local food. This is the famous Yu Tan Fun(fish ball noodle) and the fantastic milk tea(HK style). The trick of a HK style milk tea must be in the milk…just don’t know which brand, or what type of milk.

Under my influence, Gordo is becoming to like going to HK Tza Tzan Teng. ( little stores where local food are served)

The next morning we passed by Western Market and discovered this beautiful antique-looking place. Looks a bit like a picture of somewhere in Macau though.

Entrance. Walked into a picture.

Out of surprise found many small fabric stores on the second floor. Unlike those in Guangzhou, these store to me, are more “art” than “busniess”. Very quiet, layback, orgazized. (Also maybe because it was morning). Very colorful pretty fabric, but HKD 120 per meter scared me away very easily. I did not display keen interest to purchase anything.

This place is a mix of East&West, colonial british style of architecture, but cute little Chinese boutiques everywhere.

Gordo always talks about how one has to walk very fast in the street of HK compulsively even though he is not in a hurry like anybody else. Yes this is a busy and fast-paced cosmopolitan, but if you have a momment, take a HKD2 trip on the upper deck of a tram, watch things move hectically around while the tram travels thru the city, feel the wonderfully mix of cultures displayed in front of you–that is not a bad entertainment!

P.S It was also Xiao Tan’s vacation. We drove her to Mom’s place(Shekou) and from there we took a boat to HK. It was surprisingly fast–I napped a bit and when I woke up we arrived! It took about an hour.

When I went to shower tonight I found out that one of my earrings is missing. I don’t know since when. This is my most expensive earrings and my favorite. It is my Christmas gift from Gordo in 2004.Why is it that every time I lost earrings, it has to be an expensive one. Now all is left is those loud craps I bought for myself in small stores.
Sigh. why all the bad luck.

Experience is good.

Today the sun is out, and it suddely warms up,and it is said that the following days of this week will be as sunny too.
I hope it is really like what Gordo said:”the last day of winter was yesterday.”
No doubt this was the coldest winter in many years, but for me it has not been the most miserable winter, because unlike the cold damn old school days when I had to travel from classroom to dorm in the nights, not wearing enough, I got a very warm, cozy home to stay in. +There is a very active dog that makes enough troulble and generates enough heat too.

Afternoon we took the dynamic bomb to get her vaccine. She was so well-behaved it surprised me. You look at her you wont believe she is the little demonio that I keep talking about, and my comments about her seems like some sort of undermining. If you have no idea about the race…
Next month, last shot. Soon we can take her out, give her bath and introduce her to lots of activities that we think might scare her, that’s just thrilling!
Oh forgot to mention, this little bitch now likes the same spot as I do–Gordo’s shoulder. Whenever we sit together, for a movie or something, she has to have the spot. She not only takes the place, she keeps shoving me away. This was a place my head rests from day one, and she made an end to it.

A firend I haven’t seen in a few years called and talked about a hard break-up tonight. She said, now that I am finally at this stage, I suddely remember you, nights and nights in my place whinning over your stories–I thought all was simple then, but I realized it only 8 years later, God I’m so behind!
I said, it is still simple, just when it happens to you it suddenly gets complicated:)

Just a side note, I do think experience is good. No matter how bad it hurts, whether it takes months, 1 year or 5 years to get over, it is still better than nothing. Cause only after you’ve been hurt you’ll then cherish the ones who love you, after you’ve seen the ugly you can tell who’s noble, and after the so many wrong ones you will eventually learn who’s your right.
And it’s good now that you are laughing, but you’ve screamed, cried and feared.
Experience is good.
