Screwed-up project
It was a beautiful patterned piece of fabric and I was thinking to make a 50’s flared dress with a bustier top. Not much fabric but maybe if I had been more careful, I wouldn’t have cut it the wrong way and “no-going back”.
Actually first I did finish the flared dress–It was all right, like I designed. But then I put it on and it looked just horrible on me. Whatever I lack in the tits department, God makes it up for me in the hip department. So I guess,flared dress, never will work work me.
So I unpicked it and tried to decrease the flare, and that’s where I screwed up. SInce it was a patterned fabric, breaking the pattern does not make any sense.
Turned out, I had to discard the most beautiful part of the fabric. The whole bottom part of the dress.
Then the white skirt part you are seeing now, is from a fabric that was lying in my mom’s closet for over 10 years and is with yellow stains–but, that was the only thing in my collection that will ever match the upper fabric. I was going to give up, and then I thought I should really try to overcome my impatience and my super willpower to always give up half way…
Okie…silk, difficult… sweat, unpick, pinning, lining, unpick, zipper, bad, unpick…
In the end, tht is what comes out. Nothing close to a flare dress. OMG…
And the hand-work, is horrible. Anyway, can always say that I sell the idea, not the craftsmanship.
hehe, like I CAN provide any good crafts..
What I am proud of: I would normally give up long ago, but I carried out to the end, no matter what crap.
So here is to show the idea: never mind the rest.

Morning: Walked 3 kilometers with Xiao Tan.
Came back, nobody cooked. Tired of take-out.Shared an apple, I ate an orange . Shared a bit of bread, I drank the milk.
Then Xiao Tan slept. I spent hours trying to make what I pictured”something great.”
In the end I screwed up. I was short of fabric and I cut one part wrong.
So basically, a day with no yield.
Dinner out,late&big dinner.

Frugal Wife
Walked the street with Mary today.
She came from yoga class. She’s been in class for a month now and likes it. Pity I am not a yoga person.
We had lunch in Pizza Hut. Before we came in, she asked me:”What do 2 women who do not like Pizza come here for? ”
I said:”It was your idea.”
And indeed we did not order any pizza, like it has nothing to do with pizza.
She had a speghetti bologhesa but did not touch any minced meat, I had a fruit&seafood salad and a dark chocolate cake. We both had hot lemon tea.
(I felt like I did not eat anything after meal.)
On the street, me:”Why are you wearing high-heels after Yoga?”
Mary:”That’s what my mom asked too, but I told her you will be in high-heels like yesterday.”
Me:”Oh because yesterday you were wearing slippers, so I thought I would not wear anything high today…”
Mary:”That’s why u r in loafers?…”
So we walked and walked and exchanged BS all the way.
By the end of the day, she bought a pair of flat-heel shoes and a beautiful bag in Friendship and felt guilty about the expense.
Instead I was frugal. I went home with some really cheap stuff. I don’t really like them that much, but they are cheap. Bought them for the price.
I wish the writing on the back were:”eerie”instead of “aerie”.
These shoes, make my feet hurt like hell.
I am a big feet. I am starting to have to wear size 8 now.
Mary’s new stuff is really pretty, especailly the bag. Pity I did not bring camera and take pics.

Today ’s been a long day, I walked more than 2 kilometers. Maybe won’t make much of a dent on the solid 2 kilos I put while Mom was here, but my old body really needs some exercise.
Spent 2 hours with ex piano teacher and Xiao Tan. Xiao Tan walked around and found a condom somewhere and chewed on it until I found out.
I said, ew, it is a condom.
Piano teacher smiled.
All these time I thought she was celebate.

Xiaotan already destroyed her first bed. Look at this huge red strawberry. Because of her, our kitchen has to have this ridiculous item. It’s kind of cute for a little girl like her, but for our kitchen…sigh, I am speechless!

Today I watched a movie called June. Gordo said it was nominated in the Oscar. Very good movie. Not just a comedy, it is actually very deep and touching. Strongly recomend.

How can they vote out Michael Jones and keep those 2 eyesores Sayesha and Carly…
He is a HANDSOME, polite, calm and nice man+sexy accent, and he sings well.
Now there is no eye feast, I hope that kid David Archuleta lasts. I like him, big fan, but not in a sexy way…
The ones I don;t like: Christy(I hate country), David Cook(sometimes has nice voice but in general not so likable, not so rocky anyway, not as good as Bobice and Chris in Daughtry), and I’d love to see Sayesha and Carly go.

Home-made summer dress
Thanks to Mom and Xiao Tan, who stayed and talked to me(only mom) while I was doing these boring stitching. Without them I would’ve never had the patience to finish making this dress. With satin lining on the bust and sticthed-in bras.
