Day to day ramblings of Tammy Wang
Very happy today because as I wished, I got to spend the whole day belly dancing…drink a bucket and sweat a bucket…feels good!
…Except…by the end of the day the pain in the bone of my left chest aggrevated and now it’s painful even when I breathe. Hope tomorrow when I wake up everything is fine…
Will take a good rest tonight, and weekend will be 2 working days.
This has been a crazy week. Monday was fine. Tuesday we got up at 5 am to leave before 6am for Shenzhen. Gordo’s visa was about to expire. Instead of going to HK, I learned that we could make a visiting visa in my hometown. (Finally,there IS an advantage if there is a marriage involved). With all the bad rumors going on, we were quite afraid that it was not going to be easy, but it turned out much better than expected. The small hiccup was that the temperary residence permit was issued in Clifford, and it had to be somewhere in SZ, but it was easy to solve. We went to the local police office and made a new residence permit(since my ID and my Hukou are still indicating that I live in Shekou), and went back to SZ entry-exit beareau, presented all the necessary documents with lots of beautiful smiles and it was done, just like that.
Expenses are much less compared to making it in HK.(btw 6 months 2 entries)
I seldom go to SZ now, but I wish I were living in that city. It has a more cosmopolitan feel and even there is more breeze in the air. I’m used to GZ now but there are still lots of places in GZ I wouldn’t go.
We came back around 5pm on the same day and ZY called me. Then I went to Tianhe and we talked about the alterations of the first samples. Anyway that day I got back home around 10pm. What a long day.
Wednesday, went with Gordo early in the morning to meet someone, then left and spent the rest of the day buying fabric and looking for tailors. Got home around 9pm.
Thursday, went to buy some more fabric and accessories. More talking with tailors. Then meeting in Tianhe for the next few samples.
Got home earlier, around7pm.
Tomorrow, finally I think I will have some time, maybe one morning, hopefully whole day to dedicate myself to my new found favorite sport–belly dancing. I am fatally attracted to it now.
Weekend will be altering all the designs that needed to be altered. And the deco guys are coming to fix the hole left in the ceiling after we changed the A.C.
So basically then whole week will be like this.
And the bloody rain.
And if not the rain, scorchingly hot.
And my poor doggie, she is crazy. Nobody to play with her.
This weather is crazy. It rained for 2 months, then suddenly stopped and gets so hot it’s like living in an oven. Even short pants backless braless does not get you cool enough.
Today is sunday and in the morning I went to that photoshoot. It was ZY in the 3 samples that came out. ZY is a petite exquisite-looking girl, and she poses well. Look pretty good outside of camera. The photos will be processed later on and they will send me a copy.
And the party dress came out what I feared. The contrast of the 2 fabrics is too much, looking out of place. So yesterday before the photoshoot we went to buy the original fabric, and today, after taking pictures of the finished dress, I pinned the alternative fabric on the dress and they took more pictures. This is for “the other side” to decide which one they prefer. (But i definitely prefer the pinned fabric…)
Anyway I’ve sent 5 more sketches over this weekend. Would like to get the comments ASAP. Always good to know how it look in the eyes of the professional marketers.
Not much fun in life lately…but I think it’s a phase. Quite bored.
Ok,a short report of these days:
Recently I have developed this hobby. It takes lots of time and money, which I cannot afford. But it’s kind of uncontrollable. So…no idea how is the end to it.
And today we FINALLY (GEEZ… is it going slow!) started to develop 3 samples. One pants, one blouse, and one dress. Supposed to be finished by tomorrow night. The dress…after changing fabric, I am REALLY not sure. Shouda kept my first instinct….sweating… Really worried….regret already:(
Oh, the pattern-maker charges a LOT!!!! They said she is GOOD, (sure hope)but I think she is too used to making clothes for foreigners so she kind of has an eye for big money.
At the begining she thinks of me as “just another young designer out of school” (which is true…), but the fact is that –it happens more often than not that an experienced pattern-maker will feel superior to designers because they are the ones who really makes the clothes and the one who knows the structure of the clothes. So until I am really good at understanding all the sewing techniques I guess I’ll have to put up with their S***…
Anyway I am humble learner. Never said I am any good. In the end she knows I am just there to cooperate.

Very very tired…
This is what happens to people who normally do not exercise at all and suddenly start to do it.
And when you start, you realized how bad in shape you body is.
Silk blouse intended for Mom. Nice fabric. The silhouette…its all wrong but probably my fault to not have explained clearly. She will be disappointed when I send it to her. Anyway make a point to keep a record.
Neck is better today. Half an hour of massage, and half an hour of of ultraviolet wave treatment. Massage makes all the difference. This is a chronical problem I have developed since childhood. Now doc told me to go back to writing with left hand so my neck will tilt to the other way.Clifford hospital is really a good one. Am I really enjoying going there now???
Spent most of the afternoon in Clifford hospital. X-ray shows a good result.The dislocation decreased to 0.6mm by itself. Doc said it’s almost normal. The rest is just muscle pain. So I got 3 days of massage session, some plaster, and pills to take. Today the massage therapist is really patient. It took a long time and I feel great after that.
Patience, patience, patience..I wish I had. I could think of many things that I could achieve if not for short of patience. I could be a much better person…
