Ok,a short report of these days:
Recently I have developed this hobby. It takes lots of time and money, which I cannot afford. But it’s kind of uncontrollable. So…no idea how is the end to it.
And today we FINALLY (GEEZ… is it going slow!) started to develop 3 samples. One pants, one blouse, and one dress. Supposed to be finished by tomorrow night. The dress…after changing fabric, I am REALLY not sure. Shouda kept my first instinct….sweating… Really worried….regret already:(
Oh, the pattern-maker charges a LOT!!!! They said she is GOOD, (sure hope)but I think she is too used to making clothes for foreigners so she kind of has an eye for big money.
At the begining she thinks of me as “just another young designer out of school” (which is true…), but the fact is that –it happens more often than not that an experienced pattern-maker will feel superior to designers because they are the ones who really makes the clothes and the one who knows the structure of the clothes. So until I am really good at understanding all the sewing techniques I guess I’ll have to put up with their S***…
Anyway I am humble learner. Never said I am any good. In the end she knows I am just there to cooperate.
Phew~~

    Tammy ,
“hey be more confident” , you are the “designer” , the person who
designs and has the idea is the person with the intellect !

Mary Quant who had the idea for a Mini Skirt, she started the trend that men enjoy so much .
Quite a simple idea to raise the hem of a dress or skirt.
    .
Is the patern maker the person who takes YOUR idea and puts it into practice or am I wrong ? Rog .

Thanks Rog! I normally just feel bad for them if they feel too good about themselves. But I really don’t care–as long as the piece comes out good, then our common goal has been achieved.
By the way, without Mary Quant my life would have been so miserable. :)
