Busy weekend.
Friday afternoon I watched the much laughed-about “KungFu Panda”. Funny….evening Mom and Dad came. They brought me shrimps the size of baby lobsters and crabs.
Saturday afternoon Mira and Uncle N’s older daughter came.
While there were on the way Gordo and I drove to Tianhe bus terminal to pick up Uncle N and his youngest daughter.
So let me see… for the first time in 5 years, we have 8 people nesting in our apt!
As I unloaded the stuff from the trunk I realized how much food Uncle N brought. Among various types of dry pork, sweet peanut candy(which the doc asked me not to get near…), sticky rice Zhongzi…there was also a huge cooked goose.
So we all had a more than decent “afternoon tea”.
I’m glad Gordo bought this Kungfu tea set. Apart from my very occasional amusement purpose, it actually entertains a whole lot of people when the time comes.
So we did what everybody does when there is a bunch of guests–eat the hell out.
Just 2 hours from the afternoon feast we went off for dinner. Saturday night Food Street was a bee hive. Just as I made the excuse to “pee” and actually planned to pay dinner(as Gordo suggested” spare the trouble of fighting to pay to bill”) I was told that it was paid already.
Okie, Uncle N, ur above me. We’re not the same level. He went to “pee” like 20 minutes before me….
The rest of the night was spent by me thanking God I have this Kungfu tea set.
Poor Xiaotan was like a stuffed animal that was thrown about, flipped around by everybody. She is so stressed just thinking when and at whom she should bark. So by late in the afternoon she even barked at me and Gordo.
Sunday morning we started early because today is the day Uncle N’s youngest daughter registers the college. It was not difficult to find the way(at least not for Gordo…).
So many exciting new faces at campus.Makes me remember the day I stepped out of home and went to college too. Cant believe it was already 10 years ago.
It is a women’s poly-technic school. Not much fun. BTW I remember I cried a decade ago after seeing those guys on my campus because I thought I’d never find myself a bf in the following 4 years.(things that was on my mind…!!!)
Time time time, all of a sudden, they are old; I am not that young; and they grow up.

So we watched quite a few good matches the last couple of days, like Volleyball women China vs Cuba, Brazil vs. the U.S. last night. Volleyball Men Brazil vs. U.S today. Although I was kind of pro-Brazil, I have to say that the U.S. team played fiercely and beautifully.
Tonight there will be the closing ceremony for Beijing Olympics.
I’m gonna miss it because I had a good time turning on the T.V. and ALWAYS had something interesting going on there, for half a month.

Quite often I heard things like:”I love him(her) because he(she) brings out the best of me.”
I don’t know how to understand it– Try asking me to be patient, slow-tempered because I am in love with someone, see how long it will last.
For me it’s more like:”I love him because he brings out the truest of me.”
And that’s not the best of me. But it makes me feel best. And comfortable.

I jumped off Clifford bus and hailed the first taxi as efficiently as usual today. I settled in and before I said anything, the driver:”I remember you!”
“you do? wow.”
City is so big and spread out, what are the odds of running into the same taxi driver, let alone have him remember you.
Driver:”you can run.”
Me:”I have people behind me who want taxi too…”
Me:”Please take me to..”
Driver:”I remember where you wanna go.”
“Huangpu Dadao(west) yes….ur good!”
As he drove on:”I remember the other day u were wearing pants.”
Me:”really…”
After 2 seconds, driver:”very short pants.”
Me:”Is that why you remember me???”
“NO…I remember other things too.”
The he re-described the whole conversation in the taxi the other day..about what he asked and what I said…
And when he pulled off:”Last time you said you didn’t have change so I charged you 1 yuan less here. ”
Me:”ok, I’ll try to pay you back next time. bye.”
You probably wouldn’t even look at whoever is driving you, but it’s their job, and they remember you.
I had another occasion when the driver discreetly asked me all sorts of personal questions and finally hinted that his brother and I would make a good pair. That was a funny story.
And another occasion when the driver was really pissed with me because when I jumped in and said:”I want to go to….”
Driver:”shit…not again!I just came from there, it’s a disaster! and I am off duty soon.”
Me:”you drive or I’ll call.”
Driver:”I hate gals like you. There were a line of people ahead of you and I intentionally stopped by you.”(and look where it gets me…)
Me:”well maybe that’s fate. your destiny. You’ll have to help me because I need to get home.”
So he drove on and we fight all the way about who should understand whose situation until the end.
But, but in the end, he said, good night.
Some of the taxi drivers are just funny.

1.My friends who have not contacted me in a while would always ask me:”What are you up to lately?”
Right. I think I am “up to” different things at different periods—and when I am “up to” it, I am totally devoted. I have a certain craziness. –However, when I am over it, it’s just over. (attention deficit???)
For example, this bloody design thing is getting on my nerves lately. I know it’s making progress, SLOWLY;I can see it work, remotely; I am not bad, certainly, but damn, it’s sooooooooooooo much field work! Honestly had I known this is more manual than brain work I’d hesitate a LOT before starting it.
2. Watched more Olympics than ever this time. Definitely not a sports freak and still do not get frenzy over certain stars, not enough passion to swear, stay up, and do not get deeply touched by any story, but I didn’t miss much key games. (By the way, need to make an exception here– shame on Brazilian football team last night! Ya’ll suck, big time! )
3. Still belly-dancing, still loving it every fiber of my being. Still think that I don’t have enough time for it. (struggling with time…) Nothing new here.
4. Loving husband(truth be told sometimes I feel that I’m a very bad wife) and funny dog. Xiao tan’s tits are bigger than mine now. I’ve grown so many pimples on the face. Expensive Practice of Chinese medicine did not help. Maybe have to give it more time….

Writing from a “4 star” hotel room in Chaozhou. Although it’s a 4 star, we came to know that 2 of the stars are us.
Coming to Chaozhou was an ok idea for me since in general this is my hometown. I speak the language and more importantly I’ve been missing Chaoshanese food for a while.
So after checking in the hotel we decided to have a decent lunch in the hotel. I ordered the regular hometown specialty. The preserved raddish was really good. I kept eating until I stopped:”Look!”
“a cockroach!”
Gordo shrugged his shoulders:”It’s just meat.”
All right. I don’t like to make trouble.
Then they brought up the soup. It was great…until i found some floating insect.
ah………can not put up with it anymore. Called the Xiaojie and told them:”You really are creative in your dish!”
Ordered a preserved raddish you got a “salada baratinho”(cockroach salad), ordered a duck soup you get duck hair together with some floating insect(”sopa de insecto)”. This is what you expect of a 4-star hotel restaurant….
And obviously we got the runs. Well not sure mine had anything to do with lunch but definitely Gordo’s was.
Everything smells mildewy in this hotel.Old carpet and saw another small roach in the bathroom. Didn’t kill it because it didn’t scare me.It was still a baby. Gordo always said there is a meanness in me but I cant agree…
Had some much better dinner with supplier and I dragged them to take me to places where I can buy hometown specialties. Bought many cans of preserved food for Mom. Had a strong crave for peanut candy but it was too late and couldn’t find.
This is generally a shitty city(quote Gordo’s “This is like going back in time”), but one thing for sure, the people here is much nicer. Made many attempts to ask for direction and I found hommies are very very friendly! Gznese are much colder compared to them.

fabric market, tailor’s, meetings…whole day running in the city.
Lots of things I have to do, lots of things I wanna do, but the day just ends.
Very bad mood!!!
Some one bumped into me,and I felt like killing him!
Finally I realized, dancing is not just a hobby, all the sweating and moving is just a way of venting my bad mood and pressure.
I need things to move faster!

Today I went to “see the market.” Went in Prada, Versace, Hermés, LV, Celine stores etc. Even tried on one Versace’s black dress. Of course I intentionally dressed myself as “an expensive woman” before going.
Very tired….
I wish I could split. So much to do. A day is too short. + I really want to make sure I can dance everyday, but I couldn’t. So sad….
This is gonna be a frenzy 2 weeks to come…
I didn’t help Gordo much, at all. sigh.
