My friend asked me how I spend CNY. I said:”Slowly.”
I really think New Years are for children. Adults like vacations, not holidays.
Third day of the year–Today we went to see my 98 year-old grandma.

Me, Grandma, brother and brother’s gf

These 2 dolls are my niece and nephew.
Not inspired to write…

Whoever reads this–Happy New Year!
I am watching the fireworks from my window, and that’s all I think about.
Whatever is troubling you, put it behind you and enjoy the moment.

Cool day.
Jenny came visit me today and we had a swell time.
Gordo made great lunch (chicken salad, steamed fish, pork) and Jenny bought a chicken.
Gordo is becoming a great cook as I keep inviting friends over.
Jenny asked why I’d never learnt how to cook like he does. I said:”What for?…” I am happy just washing dishes.
Talked about everything, went over some music with Jenny and her dating stories made me laugh soooooooooo hard…
Dinner with Gordo’s friend.
anyhow, pics:
New vase bought yesterday. Love pink+green. Love the butterflies. The new shoots…no idea what they intend to become, any flowers later? or just an attitude?

The beautiful salad that tastes fantastic.

two “artsy” pix that I like:

Jenny was told:”No V fingers, no smiling, no standing as if u wanna jump off a building, and no dying relative too…”
Not too bad:)
Okie, lets considered new year deco done. Lazy housewife of me.

Wow I can’t believe yesterday when I buried my head in the piles of movies I almost passed this on. It’d been such a pity to miss out on this movie!
Based on a novel by Richard Yates (Thank God we’ve got movies I am too impatient for books…), it’s about a couple who met, married young, had kids, moved to a suburban house and how they struggled to make sense of the rest of it.
Leonardo Di Carprio plays the somehow “sane” husband, like most of us, who is not completely dull while has a sound sense of responsibility. Kate Winslet is the troubled wife, ex acting student who lost her meaning of life after marriage. One stuck in a job that seems quite hopeless and the other at the edge of a breakdown by the triviality of a housewife’s life. The only way to rekindle the passion of life is going to Paris and start it all over. In the process of getting ready things changed: Husband unexpectedly was offered a promotion and from there the career path seemed to clear out, meanwhile wife got pregnant again. Last straw added to the crazy plan of escaping. Eventually Paris dream fades away. Wife died trying to extricate the baby in home, by herself.
In the mean time they’ve had affairs each on their own, the mathematician neighbor who went crazy, the mundane(ordinary) couple friend they have, and the fights…the fights so intense u don’t breathe when you watch…
Movie like this leave you think for a moment, instead of going:”WTF?! it is an end already?”
I couldn’t help taking side in the movie: always thinking–geez this woman does not deserve him. Probably because I belong to this big ordinary mass who doesn’t really have big dreams. And to see people who constantly searching for the meaning of life is just a bit beyond me. They normally end up so miserably and what’s worse is they don’t find it either.
I said to Gordo:”well…have you PONDER upon meaning of life lately then?”
“Not lately,” He said,”I was busy trying to survive….”

True, when people are struggling to live, they normally don’t try find ways to kill themselves at the same time…
I am not sure this movie despises marriage: the “mundane” couple friend, who is obviously not too happy with each other; And the end of the movie when the murmuring of the fat wife becomes very thin and low and eventually evaporates in the ears of the old husband… It’s like a message—NOW WHAT?!
But nevertheless big truth to it.

Yesterday on the way to seeing the sample at ZY’s, I passed the mall again.
Discounts are everywhere. In the short 20 meters I covered I found this store with very interesting items.
The sample was a disappointment but soon we went to the bank and went back to the store in the mall again.
List of the shoppings:
a peach color cotton blouse
a straw color linen mini-top.(Very refreshing but I am not sure I’ll have the courage to wear it,well, depending how hot it is…)
a 2-pcs/set long sleeve cotton blouse
a green woven dress
a super cool vest (Now this is a great find. Great material, very chic style, excellent cutting, top-notched stitching–every seam inside has been piped it looks like couteur stuff for rmb 50.) I am thinking to have a picture taken just for this item.
a black light coat, very clean silhouette.
How I like when the stores are going broke.
Today’s been a winter day of 23 degrees with sun, but will only be a one-week-stand in the middle of winter, just to mess up with your mind and your closet. Finally paid off the traffic tickets at the post office and dragged back the heaviest curtains of all from the laundry’s. I was waiting for a pick-up leaning against a fence with a giant package looking over to the stores and thinking about the Tibetan style Cafe we’d been last night, I thought, this place is so going down…
The curtain was not as bad to put up on as thought. A shower once every …5 years? It’s always been an issue for me, glad now it’s off my mind.

Last week Gordo bought his new Nokia E71. As usual the old Palm Treo 750 has to be sold the sooner the better.
So I went with my “counselor” Mira to the 2nd-hand market in the afternoon. (My regular principle is whatever others can do for you, don’t do it yourself…but this is just not the case here since Gordo was born bargaining-skill-deficient).
I’ve had some hurt feelings before so I knew a bit of selling 2nd-hand stuff and came prepared. But the 400rmb still sounded like a humiliation at first. Plus Mira, my technical counselor, was hoping to get 1 grand.
We went to 3 other hopeless stores and had to come back to the very first. I thought at the first bargaining round the lady eventually uttered:”600″ but we walked away. Second time when we were back the guy only gave 500 and I gladly agreed.
Better than nothing, It was a piece of crap at its best anyway…
But it was half an afternoon walking in the cold wind of a seemingly sunny day.
“Cant even cover your speeding tickets of this month!” I said to Gordo when we were back.

Schedule seems to be full, and if not full, seems like I can always squeeze something to do in between.
Yesterday met up with ZY. Passed her the navy color scarf I bought from LJ. Looks very good on her. I cant think of any better color for her. Then discussed about the fabric between eating oranges and pancakes.
Today saw z handsome YF and LU.Talking about next year plan. I agreed that its better for YF if next year he could get a role in a gay movie or something. Didn’t join their dinner though.
If I went one place each day, it should keep me pretty busy.
